Dental hygiene tips for healthy teeth & gums
In their young, formative years, kids are open to many good and bad habits. The great thing about dental health is that it does not take much time, and it is simple. If you keep it fun, you won’t have trouble culturing a consistently good habit in your little loved ones.
In our last blog, we gave you three ways to make the dental routine fun for kids, including allowing creativity, playing music, and normalizing brushing teeth after eating sweets or drinking soda. Today, we have three more tips for you!
1. New brushes
Depending on the kid, you can really brighten routine by either letting him/her pick out a toothbrush, or surprising him/her with a new brush you picked out. Kids find new toothbrushes very exciting, because the brushes are a way for kids to express themselves.
2. Test toothpastes
There are all kinds of kid-friendly toothpastes out there. Kids love having choices, so letting them figure out which paste they like is a great way to guarantee they will want to use it.
3. Learn kindly
If your child gets a cavity, do not make a big deal out of it. Instead, use it as an opportunity to evaluate habits and create new goals.
Bonus: Lead by example
Your kids look up to you and will emulate what you do. If they see you flossing and brushing your teeth, they will be inspired to do the same, which can jump-start great habits.
